Here Come the Warm Jets is the debut solo album by Brian Eno. Produced by Eno, it was released on Island Records in 1974. The musical style of Here Come the Warm Jets is a hybrid of glam rock and art rock, similar to Eno’s previous album work with Roxy Music but with songs that are more quirky and experimental. The album features various guest musicians, including Robert Fripp of King Crimson, members of Roxy Music, Hawkwind, Matching Mole, and The Pink Fairies. In developing the album’s words and music, Eno used abstract methods such as dancing for his band members and having them play accordingly, and singing nonsense words to himself that would form the basis of subsequent lyrics.
Here Come the Warm Jets peaked at number 26 on the United Kingdom album charts and number 151 on the U.S. Billboard charts, receiving a number of positive reviews. It was re-issued on compact disc in 1990 on Island Records and in 2004 on Virgin Records, and continued to elicit praise. Critic Steve Huey of Allmusic stated that the album “still sounds exciting, forward-looking, and densely detailed, revealing more intricacies with every play”.
The songs on Here Come the Warm Jets reference various musical styles from the past and present. The overall style of the album has been described as “glammed-up art-pop”, showcasing glam rock’s simple yet theatrical crunchy guitar rock and art-rock’s sonic texture and avant-garde influences.

Growing up in a small beach town, Mike began his musical photosynthesis by the
age of 13, with the piano. Soon after, he entwined his fingers around his first
guitar and found his passion to be laced within its six strings. A prolific and
gifted songwriter from early on, Struwin produced and released his first CD by
the age of 17. Now, seven albums later, Mike Struwin has become a staple in the
Midwest music scene. His release “Roots Down,” received critical acclaim, and
two of his songs were featured in film soundtracks, including a surf
documentary called “Beautiful” that was released in association with Imagine
Afrika Productions. Struwin has played at Festivals with such acts as The
Doobie Brothers, Robert BradleyÆs Black Water Surprise, Inner Vissions and
Aswah Greggori. He has shared the stage with members from Greensky Bluegrass,
UmphreyÆs Magee and even David CrosbyÆs Band.

Moving to Portland, Oregon in 2006 this folksy artist began work on his 7th
album, ôStorylineö. Enlisting the help of some of PortlandÆs finest musicians,
ôStorylineö contains 10 heartfelt original tunes. Featuring stunning
performances from Damian Erskine, (Terry- Lynn, Tony Fertado) Paul Hoffman, (
Greensky Bluegrass) Paul Brainard, (Richmond Fontaine) and Alex Shakari ( The
Insomniacs ) just to name a few, this album is StruwinÆs finest work to date.

Dr. John – Gris-Gris – 320 KBPS

Gris-Gris is the debut album by Dr. John. Produced by Harold Battiste, it was released on Atco Records in 1968. The musical style of Gris-Gris is a hybrid of New Orleans rhythm and blues and psychedelic rock. Despite the New Orleans style, it was recorded in California with several native New Orleans musicians.

Gris-Gris failed to chart in the United Kingdom and the United States. It was re-issued on compact disc decades later and received much greater praise from modern critics, including being listed at #143 on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.

Quest. This long-delayed album, slated originally for release in 2001, is
finally dropping! A musical hybrid, Kamaal was commendably avant-garde at the
time of its creation. Amazingly, it’s even more apropos in 2009; given the
dearth of musical merit and capable MCs in today’s Hip Hop, the time is
ever-so-right for Tip. Kamaal the Abstract is an intensely idiosyncratic and
revealing record. To that end, Q-Tip produced the entire album himself, even
playing several instruments. What comes from Kamaal is daring m‚lange of Soul,
supa-cool Jazz, head-nodding Hip Hop, and organic Pop magic in the vein of
Stevie Wonder or Prince.
